MacEagon is an experienced journalist, podcaster & copywriter. He has 1,000+ bylines covering music, culture & technology for publications like Vice and Nerdist. He's hosted and produced 100+ podcast episodes. He's also created campaigns for leading tech companies (Google, Facebook) and architected content strategies for billion-dollar startups.
His writing currently focuses on the intersection of art and new Internet technologies. He's also a composer and singer/songwriter. He's working on an album and a tv show.
MUSIC
MacEagon is a classically-trained composer & singer-songwriter who has performed on three continents. He holds a B.A. in music from Carleton College, where he studied minimalism, vocal performance & composition with composers Alex Freeman & Mary Ellen Childs.
Drawing from brooding melody makers like Angel Olsen and Thom Yorke, as well as prodigious vocalists like Jeff Buckley and Joe Cocker, the Minnesota-born & London-based singer-songwriter layers his powerful voice and poignant lyrics atop melancholic folk rock, captivating audiences from Brooklyn to Brazil.
PROJECTS
After years of people operations work, I co-founded a startup called Grey Matter, a public benefit company in the states (and a cooperative in the UK) whose purpose is to transform moments of human-based music discovery into community + meaningful artist support.I also co-founded the Emancipation Impact Network — an on-chain collective working toward the abolishment of the prison-industrial complex — and folk, a kernel-grown collective embedding ancient folk relationships into a new commons infrastructure and cultural flow.

He’s as comfortable building a product team as he is starting a non-profit, headlining a show or writing a 9,000-word article on bleeding-edge technologies' impact on culture & legacy systems.
The Minnesota native has spent the past decade in Brooklyn & London, where he lives today, shepherding his music startup, Grey Matter, making music & balancing various writing projects.
